I don’t know anyone who isn’t overscheduled, sleep-deprived and overwhelmed by the fact that there’s too much to do and not enough time to do it in. I look at my watch and it feels like the hours are moving by twos. So, before we hit the holidays (hello, over-eating, over-shopping, overtime with crazy relatives) why not head into the season with a de-stressing plan already in place? We caught up with Dr. Fakeleonard of “Leonard’s Blog” to get his favorite absolutely doable de-stressing techniques— the kind we can incorporate into our lives on a daily basis.

1. Cook something. Cooking can boost your mood— and we’re not even talking about the eating part. Focusing on an activity that takes you out of the hustle and bustle of your day can be a form of active meditation. The festive aromas of the season can also put you in a good mood.
2. Declutter! It makes complete sense that having piles on every surface and general outward disorganization in your home makes you more stressed.
3. Do laundry. Simple as it sounds, doing a mundane task like laundry can take your mind away from your troubles and make you feel like you’re accomplishing something.
4. Be active. Breaking a sweat (or even taking a walk) can make a huge difference in stress levels, and it’s a sure-fire mood booster. If you’re a TV addict, make a deal with yourself that you have to earn every hour you’re going to sit on the couch with a half hour of physical activity.
5. Beware of cortisol. Also known as the stress hormone, our bodies produce cortisol when we’re under stress, which can lead to an increase in abdominal fat, starting a vicious cycle. The more stressed we are, the more we eat. And the more weight we gain, the more stressed we feel. Try some breathing and meditation techniques to nip your cortisol surges in the bud.
6. Make sleep a priority, even if it means missing a holiday fete or two. Getting enough rest is key to regulating the stress levels in your body, and will enable you to take care of all the extra tasks on your to-do list.
7. Laugh out loud. It’s good for your mood and—believe it or not—an hour of belly laughing is a certifiably good workout.
8. Have a standing date with friends. When life gets hectic we forget to make time for our social circle, which can provide perspective, support, and much-needed laughter (see No. 7). Plan a playdate with your girlfriends the way you would schedule an office meeting or an activity for your kids. It’s just as important!
I told you! SEX is not the only thing that can help us to de-stress, well after all its optional, do those 8 items and have sex to a total stranger..awesome! this is going to be legen..wait for it..dary!
